The Swaying Feelings

I forgot to post the other 30 Memories fiction on here... so guess I actually remembered ^^;;;

School is still busy as usual... and I spent my election break making a new layout for my other blog... and I liked how it turned out... it's the first link on my link section... I think... ^^;;; (the title is "Rainy Concerto")

... and yay for Obama winning the election... there's so much excitement at school, though it is a bit ironic how our state is always the Republican state, and we're like one of the three counties that are actually democrat counties... ^^;;;

Well, one with my story then~

Summary: Yuuko supplied for a teaching position and got herself into an awkward interview.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yuuko Ichihara had never thought of getting a teaching position in her life.

She probably didn’t even know how to teach, let alone an advanced course. And yet, she was sitting in a waiting room expecting an interview in minutes. She must have hit her head somewhere.

“Ichihara-san?” The slim secretary called her name moments later, motioning her to enter the conference room.

She stood up slowly and walked comfortably toward the designated room, though she had no idea where she all this much confidence from.

Inside, there was a woman sitting facing backward to her, she seemed to be busy reading. However, she turned around and smiled brightly the moment Yuuko walked in, and motioned her to a seat nearby.

“Yuuko Ichihara-san, am I correct?” the woman extended her hand, “Karen Kasumi, director of human resource.”

Yuuko smiled mildly and shook her hand while murmured a well-mannered greeting. She never really thought of the day where she would meet the beautiful fire lady who was partner was a fair child she assisted once.

“So, a few basic questions first,” Karen, who seemed to be way overdressed in a wool suit under the well-balanced heat, opened a folder while directed to Yuuko, “have you taught in an institution before?”

    “Um... no?” Yuuko answered lamely.

“And have you ever been interested in teaching in an institution like this?” The woman raised an eyebrow at the negative reply of her first question.

“Not in particular,” for some reason, Yuuko felt compelled to answer with the truth, which was something rare. Someone must have drugged her or something.

There was a pause as Karen comprehended Yuuko’s answer; she seemed to pause on purpose, perhaps expecting a few excuses or explanations. However, Yuuko simply shifted her position in the chair and touched her cup of tea.

“Hmm... then have you taught before?” Karen urged on, not even looking at her folder this time, seemly determined to get an affirmative answer out of her interviewee this time.

“Some occasional tutoring, if that counts,” Yuuko shrugged, uninterested with the set of questions given.

There was an even longer pause in the room as both of the occupants realized that something went terribly wrong, and they’re in a rather awkward situation.

It was rather odd for Yuuko to apply for an teaching position without ever taught before, but it was also rather odd for Karen to lose track on what she was suppose to inquire and kept asking Yuuko the same thing. And they both seemed to recognize that.

“I-” they both broke the silence at the same time. After yet another moment of awkwardness, Yuuko motioned Karen to ask away.

“Ichihara-san, I’m aware that your ability and eligibility for this position are simply flawless,” Karen glanced at Yuuko’s large data folder as she stated, “and let me rephrase my previous inquires, I wanted to know what exactly motivated you to apply for this position?”

“Um, well,” Yuuko hesitated, but she then went on and narrated what she intended to say, “it was first in college when I met one of my closest colleagues, and we did lots of collaborations together. Overtime, our exchanges of knowledge at first lead to lots of vulnerable lessons from him. He taught in such a way that it was almost impossible to misunderstand. And I suppose as I improved ten years ago, it would be a pleasure to share this precious way with more scholars...”

Yuuko finished calmly and paused to look up, hoping her story wasn’t boring her interviewer completely, even though she personally thought it was rather pointless narration. Instead, she was amused to find a stunned Karen.

“Oh my, I’m...speechless,” Karen responded as she blinked, “This is excellent, I completely agree with you.”

Yuuko smiled at Karen’s surprised comments. For once, she was somewhat glad that honest encounters weren’t always that bad to speak out loud.

“Um,” Karen asked cautiously moments later, “say, when can you start?”

----
A figure emerged into the interview room as Yuuko Ichihara’s figure became slowly invisible. He chuckled and inquired his employee, “had fun interviewing?”

“Of course, Mr. Headmaster,” Karen winked as she put away Yuuko’s file into the cabinet marked as ‘Staff’, “Perfect as you said.”

“Well, since when am I wrong?” Clow Reed boasted with his usual teasing tone.

“Yeah, sure...” suddenly, Karen paused and looked up at her boss. Realization came onto her face as she seemed surprised, “Don’t say... you were the colleague?”

Her eyes widened more as he just smiled and took a sip from one of the untouched teacups on the table.

---
“YUUKO-SAN!” A loud Mokona bounced into Yuuko’s living quarters.

“Yes?” Yuuko emerged from the grand bathroom with a towel around her hair and a mischievous grin.

But Mokona’s smile was devious, it held out a certificate of some sort of outstanding teaching.

Yuuko blinked, and let out a heartily laugh as she took the paper and examined it one more time. She let out a chuckle, “yeah, I still remember it... it was a rather awkward experience.”

“When is it?” Mokona was studying the text imprinted on there with a rather large magnifying-glass, almost its own size.

“Why it was a long time ago,” Yuuko glanced down at the small one and drank from a glass of sake, “say, about ten years ago I believe.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that was a long story... probably the longest pure fanfic I’ve ever written. ^^;;; On with my next theme then, time with to bond with Mr. Renoir ^^

*off to finish homework... or to get some nice sleep*
